Our Story
Cecy and Travis Holcomb’s journey with clay began in El Paso, Texas, where a love for ceramics first took root. After moving to San Marcos, they built their home, studio, and garden by hand—a space that would become the heart of their creative life.
Cecy pursued her passion for ceramics at Texas State University, earning a BFA with a focus on wheel-thrown pottery, design, and form. Her work draws deeply from her mother’s influence and her cultural heritage, inspiring series such as Folklorico and Aguas Frescas.
While Cecy refined her craft, Travis oversaw the construction of Holcombville Pottery studio, “her diamond in the rough.” Together, they carried forward a family tradition in clay, first nurtured in ceramic shops in El Paso and later realized in the wheel-spinning, clay-covered rhythm of their San Marcos studio. Eighteen years later, their practice is still rooted in the same dedication and joy that started it all.
What We Make
The Holcombs specialize in functional, handmade pottery- cups, bowls, pitchers, and everyday vessels that bring beauty and utility to daily life. Each piece is wheel-thrown, altered, and decorated by hand, using stoneware and porcelain clays, then fired in oxidation to reveal subtle textures and colors.
Their pottery is meant to be lived with-objects that connect people, traditions, and stories through the simple act of use.
The Process
Most of the work is wheel-thrown, altered, slip-decorated, and fired in an oxidation atmosphere. We use stoneware and porcelain clay.
The pottery is lead-free and can be used in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher.
